Renewed DLE Sector Attention
The Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology sector has attracted renewed attention following continued progress at E3 Lithium's (ETL, 310M Market Cap) Field Pilot Plant testing its DLE tech, seemingly ushering in a "new era" for DLE-focused companies.
As stated by Ballanger, VLT is a "growing, pure-play lithium development and technology company, aiming to be North America's first commercial producer of lithium hydroxide and lithium carbonates from oilfield brine" which has gained prominence as a "life-changing" lithium find with its innovativeIES-300 DLE technology.
Designed to extract lithium from oilfield brines, VLT's DLE technology achieves an impressive lithium recovery rate of 90% from concentrations as low as 34 mg/L and remarkable 97% recoveries using 120 mg/L concentrations, all while maintaining commercial viability.
By removing contaminants from oilfield brine for use in their DLE technology, VLT can offer a compelling opportunity to oil and gas operators, presenting a win-win situation by adding value to existing oilfield operations.
On track to implement its DLE production method by the second half of 2024 following a PEA later this year, VLT's Rainbow Lake Property showcases a substantial lithium resource of 4.3 million tonnes with concentrations reaching up to 121mg/L. VLT is aiming to produce 1,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide by the end of June 2025.
