TORONTO, NEW YORK (CP) - The Toronto stock market ended the Friday session lower, with commodity stocks taking the brunt of selling pressure.

The S&P/TSX composite index fell 69.15 points to 10,644.96. The energy sector led losses as the price of oil in New York came off a seven-month high to slip 64 cents to US$72.04.

New York markets were little changed at the end of a tepid week, failing to get a boost from data showing that U.S. consumer confidence continued to climb in June. The Dow Jones industrial average moved up 28.34 points to 8,799.26. The Nasdaq composite index declined 3.57 points to 1,858.8.

After-Hours News

Theratechnologies (TSX: T.TH)
After Friday’s close, the biopharmaceutical company reported that results from a pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) evaluation of tesamorelin were presented as a poster at the Endocrine Society's 91st Annual Meeting in Washington D.C. Tesamorelin is an analogue of the growth hormone releasing factor evaluated for the treatment of excess abdominal fat in HIV patients with lipodystrophy. The results showed that tesamorelin's PK/PD profiles were generally similar in both groups and suggest that there is a minimal impact on tesamorelin's PK parameters and on the induction of the insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1) when tesamorelin is given to HIV-positive patients on antiretroviral therapy.
