Markets overseas saw red on Wednesday and Canada’s main stock index bounced back after a triple digit decline to close just on the higher side. The energy and base metals sectors pulled back. The tech, utilities, and industrials sectors were the success stories of the day.
As natural gas prices spiral, US stocks moved higher, building on gains from the previous session. Traders are still growing concerned that rising inflation will force the US Federal Reserve’s hand to tighten policy monetary policy faster than already expected are sending stocks lower, and the US Dollar higher.

The Canadian dollar traded for 79.12 cents US compared with 79.64 cents US on Tuesday.
Crude oil prices were down $1.78 to $77.15.
The price of gold was up 5.04 to $1,764.46.
In world markets, the Nikkei was down 293.25 points to 27,528.87, the Hang Seng was down 697.01 points to 23,966.49, the FTSE was down 81.23 points to 6,995.87, and the DAX was down 221.16 points to 14,973.33.
