Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Thursday, November 7, 2013 VANCOUVER (SHfn) –

Golden Star Resources Ltd. (TSX: T.GSC, Stock Forum) gained 11.3% to 59 cents after the gold mining company announced an updated mineral resource for the Wassa Main pit, located in the southwestern region of Ghana, as at Sept. 30, 2013. Highlights of the estimates include increased indicated mineral resources to 46.4 million tonnes with an average grade of 1.75 grams per tonne gold for 2.6 million ounces and are inclusive of mineral reserves. This is a 28% increase in grade and a 13% increase in tonnes over the indicated mineral resources as at Dec. 31, 2012. Currently, the company is evaluating the alternative of mining a higher-grade portion of this resource at depth using underground methods, which could enhance overall project economics. A new infill-drilling program will commence shortly on deeper high-grade zone to identify underground potential

Alix Resources Corp. (TSX: V.AIX, Stock Forum) rose 16.7% to four cents before closing unchanged at three cents after the mineral exploration company announced that it has acquired the Windy tungsten deposit, located 15 kilometers north of Cassiar in British Columbia. The Windy property has seen several separate massive sulfide, molybdenite and tungsten exploration programs over the years that include reports of 0.70% tungsten trioxide in surface sampling and historic drilling that intersected 0.49% tungsten trioxide over 16.7 meters and 0.57% tungsten trioxide over 4.7 meters in two diamond drill holes.

Batero Gold Corp. (TSX: V.BAT, Stock Forum) lost 7.7% to 12 cents after the precious and base metals exploration and development company announced a change in directors. Ernesto Bendezú Flores has resigned from the board of directors and Felipe Ferraro has been appointed as a new director. Felipe Ferraro is currently the General Manager for Cori Puno SAC, a mining and exploration company started in 2004 and owned by the principal stakeholders of Consorcio Minero Horizonte (CMH). Currently, CMH is the second largest underground gold mining company in Peru and fifth largest gold producer in all of Peru, producing over 200,000 ounces of gold in 2012.

New Zealand Energy Corp. (TSX: V.NZ, Stock Forum) was down 12.5% to 35 cents. The stock is reacting to news that the oil and natural gas company has received approval from New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals (NZPAM) to extend the Alton permit for a second five-year term. New Zealand Energy owns a 65% interest and is operator of the Alton permit, through its subsidiary Taranaki Ventures II Ltd. Concurrent with the extension, 50% of the Alton permit has been relinquished. The new permit area comprises 59,565 acres, bringing the company’s Taranaki Basin portfolio to 159,864 net acres. Additionally, the new work program requires the company to drill two exploration wells, process 20 square kilometres of 3D seismic and 20 line kilometres of 2D seismic, and complete a number of technical studies and reports. New Zealand Energy plans to drill the first commitment well - the Horoi well - into a Mt. Messenger target commencing in late February 2014.

North American Nickel Inc. (TSX: V.NAN, Stock Forum) slipped 15.2% to 34 cents following news that the mineral explorer’s deepest sulphide intersection to date at Imiak Hill has returned high-grade nickel-copper-cobalt assays demonstrating that the mineralization has continuity and remains open at depth. Imiak Hill is one of three mineralized norites comprising the Imiak Hill Conduit Complex (IHCC), which also includes the Imiak North and Spotty Hill norites. The IHCC is located in southwest Greenland. At a 182 metres down, the drill intersected 24.75 metres grading 3.19% nickel, 1.14% copper, 0.11% cobalt, and 0.01 grams per tonne platinum group metals.
