Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Tuesday, June 23, 2009

TORONTO (SHfn) – Inflated expectations may have let some of the air out of a small gold play Tuesday, while a solar-related stock shone on greater demand.

Underworld Resources (TSX: V.UW, Stock Forum) shares slipped 18% to $1.65 on Tuesday after the micro cap miner reported that results have been received from nine additional holes drilled during the Phase 1 campaign at the White Gold Property in the Yukon, which included 3.16 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 44.5 meters.

As well, shares of Timminco (TSX: T.TIM, Stock Forum) gained 29% to $1.54 as the producer of solar grade silicon for the solar photovoltaic energy industry announced that it has resumed production of silicon metal at its Becancour Silicon facilities. The move comes as a result of improved market conditions and demand for silicon metal from the chemical industry, says the company.

SONIC Technology Solutions (TSX: V.SNV , Stock Forum), meanwhile, reported that it and Shell Canada Energy have jointly filed a patent application for the recovery of bitumen from oil sands. SONIC stock popped 23% to 16 cents.

Shares of Sirit (TSX: T.SI, Stock Forum) jumped 20% to 18 cents as the provider of radio frequency identification technology along with its partner, Axiompass, said it has successfully implemented the first electronic vehicle registration monitoring system in Mexico.

And, International Datacasting Corporation (TSX: T.IDC , Stock Forum) shares added 8% at 26.5 cents after the provider of solutions for the distribution of broadband multimedia content delivery announced that its Superflex 3D Live Encoders and Decoders with Sensio technology on board, were used in a live 3D demonstration of a robotic surgical system held at the 9th Annual Conference of Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery Group in South Korea.
