TORONTO (SHfn) – Noront Resources (TSX: V.NOT, Stock Forum) shares surged as much as 10% to 66 cents on Wednesday after the explorer announced an updated, independent Mineral Resource Estimate for its 100% owned Blackbird chromite deposit at the McFaulds Lake Project in northern Ontario. Highlights included a tripling of the previous resource, which now stands at a Measured and Indicated Resource of 20.5 million tonnes averaging 35.76% Cr2O3 and 1.97 Cr:Fe.

As well, shares of Noveko International (TSX: T.EKO, Stock Forum) moved up 19% to 28.5 cents as the provider of solutions in the environmental and medical fields reported that its subsidiary, Noveko Inc., has delivered the first Noveko-IDP filters to Air Transat to equip its entire Airbus A330 fleet.

Omineca Mining and Metals (TSX: V.OMM, Stock Forum), meanwhile, announced that a formal agreement has been executed whereby Omineca has the exclusive right to acquire all issued and outstanding shares of Gravitas Metals Corp., a private British Columbia Corporation. The primary asset held by Gravitas is the option to earn an 80% interest in the Sully group of claims, located near Fort Steele in British Columbia. The Sully Property comprises 1375 ha and overlies rocks of similar age and origin as those that host the Sullivan Deposit which, over its 100-year lifetime, has produced approximately three billion ounces of silver, eight million tonnes of zinc and eight million tonnes of lead. Omineca stock popped 47% to 28 cents.

And, Mint Technology (TSX: V.MIT, Stock Forum) Wednesday said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Mint Middle East LLC, has secured five new contracts in the UAE for the provision of payroll cards and other financial services in the first quarter of calendar 2012. Mint Technology shares jumped 16% to 18.5 cents.
