Stockhouse Canadian Small and Micro-cap Stock Report for Wednesday, May 2, 2012

TORONTO (SHfn) – Bolero Resources (TSX: V.BRU, Stock Forum) shares powered 121% higher to 21 cents on volume of 3.6 million shares Wednesday after the micro cap explorer said it has entered into a purchase agreement with GeoInvest Enterprises to acquire 38, prospective, large-flake graphite mineral claims in northeastern Ontario, contiguous with Northern Graphite's "Bissett Creek" Graphite deposit.

As well, shares of International Northair Mines (TSX: V.INM, Stock Forum) continue to move higher Wednesday, up 11% to 31 cents. On Tuesday, the stock gained 14% as the junior miner reported assay results from five additional core holes completed at its La Cigarra silver project in Mexico, which included 35 metres of 91.8 grams per tonne (g/t) silver.

The Westaim Corporation (TSX: T.WED, Stock Forum), meanwhile, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement pursuant to which Intact Financial (TSX: T.IFC, Stock Forum) has agreed to purchase from the company all of the issued and outstanding shares in the capital of JEVCO Insurance Company for $530 million in cash. Westaim stock popped 12% to 76 cents on more than 37.7 million shares traded.

And, Sernova (TSX: V.SVA, Stock Forum) Wednesday said it received Health Canada Approval to conduct a human clinical trial assessing both the safety and efficacy of Sernova's Cell Pouch with transplanted insulin-producing islets in patients with insulin-dependent diabetes. Sernova shares added 12% at 28 cents.
