TORONTO (SHfn) – Canamex Resources (TSX: V.CSQ, Stock Forum) shares surged 290% to 39 cents on volume of more than 23 million shares Wednesday after the micro cap explorer reported drill results from the Bruner Gold Project in Nevada, which included 118.11 meters of 4.08 grams per tonne (g/t) gold.

As well, shares of GoldQuest Mining (TSX: V.GQC, Stock Forum) gained 23% to $1.20 on more than 7.5 million shares traded as the gold junior announced assay results within its 100% owned Las Tres Palmas trend in the Dominican Republic, which included 159 metres grading 4.5 g/t gold and 1% copper.

High River Gold Mines (TSX: T.HRG, Stock Forum), meanwhile, said Nord Gold N.V. announced its intention to make a formal offer to acquire the common shares of High River that Nordgold and its affiliates do not already own for either 0.285 global depositary receipts of Nordgold, or $1.40 per High River Gold share in cash. High River Gold stock popped 15% to $1.41.

And, ATAC Resources (TSX: V.ATC, Stock Forum) Wednesday reported the first 10 diamond drill hole results of 2012 from the Conrad and Isis East Zones at its 100% owned Rackla Gold Project in the Yukon, which included 46.06 metres of 11.24 g/t gold. ATAC shares jumped 13% to $2.65.
