Madalena Ventures soars on drilling plans: Canadian market movers

On Thursday, the top TSX mover was Uranium One Inc. (TSX: T.UUU, Stock Forum). The stock was unchanged and was trading at $1.84 on volume of 11.9 million. The uranium production company had no related news.

Research In Motion Ltd. (TSX: T.RIM, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. It rose 4.19% and was trading at $13.69 on volume of 6.7 million shares. Good news all around for the communications company, which will begin a pilot program with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for the new BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 10 mobile enterprise management solution and BlackBerry® 10 smartphones in early 2013

ArPetrol Ltd. (TSX: V.RPT, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It plummeted 50% and was trading at $0.005 on volume of 8.1 million. On Nov. 13, the oil and natural gas exploration and development company reported a decrease of 82 barrels of oil per day in its third-quarter report.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Madalena Ventures Inc. (TSX: V.MVN, Stock Forum). It climbed 8.47% and was trading at $0.32 after 2.2 million shares changed hands. On Dec. 6, the oil and gas exploration company said it was ramping up Alberta drilling operations with two rigs focused on horizontal resource plays and production growth.
