The TSX composite rose 18.55 points to 12,620.73 in mid-morning trading on Monday. The Dow was unchanged at 13,488.43, while NASDAQ fell 11.09 to 3,114.54.

Uranium One Inc. (TSX: T.UUU, Stock Forum) is supporting a $1.3-billion offer from a Russian company known as ARMZ, which wants to take the Canadian company private. ARMZ already owns 51.4% of Uranium One's stock. On Monday the stock soared 15.35% and was trading at $2.77 a share.

The price of gold was up US$4.79 to US$1,667.20 an ounce, while silver eased US$0.39 to US$30.86 an ounce.
