On Tuesday, the top TSX mover was TORC Oil & Gas Ltd. (TSX: T.TOG, Stock Forum). The stock soared 10.92% and was trading at $1.93 on volume of 16 million.

The oil and gas producer announced its fourth quarter and year-end results. Production grew to 2,518 barrels of oil per day in the fourth quarter of 2012 from 927 barrels of oil per day in the third quarter of 2012

B2Gold Corp. (TSX: T.BTO, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. It rose 4.24% and was trading at $3.075 on volume of 7 million shares.

The gold producer had no news to explain the elevated levels in trading.

EastCoal Inc. (TSX: V.ECX, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It fell 14.29% and was trading at $0.06 on volume of 5.1 million.

The coking coal producer said at the end of February, it restarted its wash plant at the Menzhinsky mine following the completion of engineering improvements. The company expects wash plant production to ramp up over the next few weeks.

As a consequence of the unexpected shut down of the wash plant at the Menzhinsky mine and the geological problems encountered at the Menzhinsky underground mine in January and February, very little revenue was received by the company during that period.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Pinecrest Energy Inc. (TSX: V.PRY, Stock Forum). It fell 1.96% and was trading at $1.00 after 1.7 million shares changed hands.

The petroleum and natural gas exploration, production and development company had no related news to explain the high volume in trading.
