Brookfield stock falls on Q1 results

Brookfield Asset Management Inc. (TSX: BAM.A, Stock Forum) reported that its profits in the latest quarter declined from $722 million to $697 million.

However, funds from operations in the first quarter jumped 34% to $689 million, the company said in a press release.

The stock fell 2% to $38.43, leaving the company with a market cap of $23.9 billion, based on 623.9 million shares outstanding. The 52-week range is $40.29 and $30.62.
