Petroamerica Oil (V.PTA) up on well results: Canadian market movers

Here are the most active stocks on Wednesday mid-morning on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange.

On Wednesday, the top TSX mover was B2Gold Corp. (TSX: T.BTO, Stock Forum). It fell 3.7% and was trading at $3.015 on volume of 7.9 million shares.

On Aug. 20, the gold producer said that it had priced its previously announced offering of US$225 million aggregate principal amount of convertible senior subordinated notes due 2018. The notes will bear cash interest payable semi-annually in arrears at a rate of 3.25% per annum. The initial conversion rate for the notes will be equivalent to approximately US$3.93 per B2Gold common share.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX: T.K, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. The stock was down 3.1% and trading at $5.95 on volume of 4.4 million.

On Aug. 19, the gold miner announced that unionized employees at its Tasiast mine in Mauritania, Africa had returned to work after ending a strike that began on Aug. 8, 2013.

Corsa Coal Corp. (TSX: V.CSO, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It climbed 9.5% and was trading at $0.115 on volume of 4.7 million.

On July 31, the coal miner said that it had completed the previously announced transaction with Quintana Kopper Glo Investment, LLC, a portfolio company of Quintana Energy Partners L.P. and its affiliated investment funds, which resulted in Corsa having raised a total of US$40 million at Cdn$0.17 per share and acquiring Kopper Glo, a Tennessee-based coal producer, and Quintana having acquired a control position in Corsa.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was Petroamerica Oil Corp. (TSX: V.PTA, Stock Forum) It rose 1.6% and was trading at $0.325 after 3.2 million shares changed hands.

On Aug. 20, the junior oil and gas exploration and production company announce the results from its Las Maracas-10 development well , located in the Llanos Basin, Colombia, which tested under natural flow, light 29.8o API oil, at an average rate of approximately 1,000 barrels of oil per day from the Gacheta Formation. The well encountered a total net pay thickness of 48 feet, 34 feet of which are in the Gacheta and Une Formations, and 14 feet in the Mirador Formation.
