Zodiac Exploration (V.ZEX) falls 10% on operational update: Canadian market movers

Here are the most active stocks on Tuesday mid-morning on the TSX and TSX Venture Exchange.

On Tuesday, the top TSX mover was Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX: T.SU, Stock Forum). The stock was down 1.7% and was trading at $35.03 on volume of 3.7 million.

Today, the oil and gas company said quarterly operating earnings during the last three months of 2013 were $973 million, down from $988 million during the same 2012 period.

Suncor also raised its dividend 15% to 23 cents.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX: T.BBD.B, Stock Forum) was the second most active stock on the TSX. It gained 2.1% and was trading at $4.04 on volume of 2.9 million shares.

On February 3, the transportation equipment manufacturer announced that lessor Palma Holding Limited (Palma) has signed a firm purchase agreement for four dual-class Q400 NextGen aircraft.

Based on list price, the contract value for Palma's transaction covering four Q400 NextGen aircraft and four options is approximately US$282 million.

Zodiac Exploration Inc. (TSX: V.ZEX, Stock Forum) was the volume leader on the TSX Venture Exchange. It lost 10% and was trading at $0.045 on volume of 2.8 million.

Today, the oil and gas junior provided an update on California operations.

The second most active stock on the TSX Venture was African Metals Corp. (TSX: V.AFR, Stock Forum). It rose 33.3% and was trading at $0.02 after 2.7 million shares changed hands.

The resource company had no news to explain the high volume in trading.
