B2Gold (TSX:BTO, Stock Forum) was informed today that tempers flared at its Masbate Gold project located in the Philippines, resulting in a fatal incident between two security service employees.
According to the news release, Kublai Khan Security Services (KKSS), a security contractor of the Masbate Gold Project (MGP), reported a shooting incident on the evening of June 19, 2014 at Aroroy, Masbate when a security supervisor, attending to his rounds got into a dust-up with another employee which resulted in the supervisor being fatally shot.
After KKSS completed its initial investigation of the event, a suspect was turned over to the Aroroy Police where a full investigation will be conducted into the matter.
KKSS has informed B2Gold that it will release further information in regards to the investigation as it becomes available.
B2Gold was in the news recently when the company announced an update for its Otjikoto project 12 days ago.
Currently there are 678.7m outstanding shares with a market cap of $2.1 billion.
