It would seem that nothing galvanizes the punters like the term 10-bagger.

During the recent Cambridge House International investment conference in Vancouver, John Kaiser, the California-based publisher of Kaiser Research Online named a number of companies that he described as potential 10-baggers.

The names on Kaiser’s list would not be unfamiliar to anyone who follows the junior mining space. It included a handful of companies that could attract capital in a rising gold market.

When this was duly reported a few days later, the reaction among Stockhouse readers was so swift and dramatic, it reminded this writer of a salmon hatchery-style feeding frenzy.

While this was not a difficult story to write, it was by far the best read article on the Stockhouse website last week, beating everything else by a very wide margin.

It is sometimes said that rugby is a sport for hooligans played by gentlemen, whereas soccer is a sport for gentlemen, played by hooligans.

We were reminded of this when Clive Johnson, a former rugby player and now CEO of B2Gold Inc. (TSX: T.BTO, Stock Forum) became involved in an altercation with sell side analyst Daniel Earle during a mining conference in Toronto last week.
