TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was down nearly half a cent before the open of trading Friday at the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The loonie traded at 82.47 cents US, down 0.42 of a U.S. cent from Thursday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were up 82 points at 17,841.0, the Nasdaq futures rose 7.50 points to 4,415.8, and the S&P 500 futures advanced 6.80 points to 2,085.7.
On the commodity markets, the June crude contract was down 45 cents at US$59.18 a barrel and the June bullion contract $10.40 to US$1,172.00 an ounce ahead of the TSX open.
The S&P/TSX composite closed Thursday at 15,224.52, after falling 122.82 points.
