TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was up about one-quarter of a U.S. cent ahead of trading on North American stock markets Monday.
The loonie traded at 82.54 cents US, up 0.28 of a U.S. cent from Friday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were up 60 points at 17,994.0, the Nasdaq futures rose 6.5 points to 4,474.3, and the S&P 500 futures advanced 4.7 points to 2,106.3.
On the commodity markets, the June crude contract was up 34 cents sat US$59.49 a barrel and the June gold contract rose $5.90 to US$1,180.40 an ounce ahead of the TSX open.
Toronto's S&P/TSX composite ended Friday at 15,339.77, after rising 115.25 points.
