TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was down about one-third of a U.S. cent ahead of trading on North American stock markets Thursday.
The loonie traded at 82.76 cents US, down 0.30 of a U.S. cent from Wednesday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were down 32 points at 17,746.0, the Nasdaq futures fell 8.7 points to 4,364.3, and the S&P 500 futures declined 2.5 points to 2,071.7.
On the commodity markets, the June crude contract was down three cents at US$60.90 a barrel and the June gold contract fell $8.90 to US$1,181.40 an ounce before North American stock markets opened.
The S&P/TSX composite index closed Wednesday at 15,023.89, after falling 150 points.
