TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was up about one-tenth of a U.S. cent before North American stock markets opened Friday.
The loonie traded at 82.62 cents US, up 0.11 of a U.S. cent from Thursday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were up 34 points at 17,923.0, the Nasdaq futures rose 8.80 points to 4,411.3, and the S&P 500 futures advanced 3.8 points to 2,088.0.
On the commodity markets, the June crude contract was up 47 cents at US$59.41 a barrel and the June gold contract rose to US$1,185.50 an ounce.
The S&P/TSX composite index closed Thursday at at 15,088.82, after rising 64.93 points.
