Loonie dips ahead of TSX trading

TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was slightly lower ahead of the open of trading on North American stock markets.

The loonie traded at 82.65 cents US, down 0.06 a U.S. cent from Friday's close.

The Dow Jones industrial futures were up seven points at 18,128.0, the Nasdaq futures rose 5.7 points to 4,454.5, and the S&P 500 futures advanced 0.6 point to 2,109.0.

On the commodity markets, the June crude contract was down 19 cents at US$59.20 a barrel and the June gold contract fell 90 cents to US$1,188.00 an ounce.

The S&P/TSX composite index closed Friday at 15,170.02, after rising 81.20 points.
