TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was up about one-third of U.S. cent ahead of the open of trading on North American stock markets.
The loonie traded at 83.53 cents US, up 0.32 of a U.S. cent from Tuesday's close.
The Dow Jones industrial futures were up 57.0 points at 18,086.0, the Nasdaq futures rose 19.7 points to 4,440.5, and the S&P 500 futures advanced 8.2 points to 2,103.2.
On the commodity markets, the June crude contract was up 42 cents at US$61.17 a barrel and the June gold contract rose $2.10 to US$1,194.50 an ounce.
The S&P/TSX composite index closed Tuesday at 15,043.15, after falling 109.49 points.
