Loonie bumps ahead of TSX trading

TORONTO _ The Canadian dollar was up one-fifth of a U.S. cent ahead of trading on North American stock markets.

The loonie traded at 81.29 cents US, up 0.21 of a U.S. cent from Tuesday's close.

The Dow Jones industrial futures were down 68 points at 17,999.0, the Nasdaq futures fell 9.8 points to 4,531.50, and the S&P 500 futures declined 5.4 points to 2,111.0.

On the commodity markets, the August crude contract was up three cents at US$61.04 a barrel and the August gold contract FELL/ROSE xx to US$1,2xx an ounce.

The S&P/TSX composite index closed Tuesday at 14,904.91, up 114.43 points.
