Seattle online retail giant
Amazon is feeling untouchable at the moment, riding on reports that this year’s
Prime Day was
its biggest in history, but a brick-and-mortar retail giant is about to offer a challenge.
Walmart announced that it has entered into a
partnership with Microsoft to implement its cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Under this partnership, the two companies will assemble a team of engineers to migrate a significant portion of Wal Mart’s websites to Microsoft’s cloud computing service -
Azure.
The intent is to use Microsoft’s cloud solutions to make shopping online with Walmart faster and easier, like Amazon, which has been aided by its robust data and online presence.
The two have reportedly been working on an answer to Amazon Go by building its own
cashier and checkout-free store.
