Interested in investing into blockchain and/or cryptocurrency but don’t know where, or even if to start? One former dot-com millionaire, turned bitcoin billionaire, has a few suggestions.
In an interview with Yahoo’s Finance on the Move, Sir John Hargrave touted blockchain as “the internet of money” and wants to legitimize investing in that sector.
Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are raging rollercoasters for investors to try and catch, but Hargrave believes the best years are still to come. For investors who don’t feel brave enough to enter that avenue, he suggests keeping the majority of a portfolio in stocks and bonds but make blockchain a part of an overall investment strategy. To do this, he suggests taking 5% to 10% and investing it in a mix of bitcoin and other blockchain-heavy investments, like companies that use blockchain as an added value. Investors could look at this as an alternative investment or “mad money.”
Hargrave was one of the many to lose his millions in the dot com bubble burst of the 2000’s, but clawed it back with a bold investment into bitcoin in 2013, when a single coin fetched $125, only to reach $20,000 in 2017.
