Cannabis had an up-and-down year to start off 2020, first climbing on bullish reports and positive results, then dropping to new lows as the coronavirus pandemic impact hit the markets. Over the last few months, however, that story has reversed.

It began with the COVID-19 pandemic causing lockdowns around the world and driving up cannabis sales in Canada and the US. Then, after more than a month of relative quiet, earnings results in May pointed towards profitability for some and recovery for others.

After the rough year that the cannabis market had, the resurgence in May was music to the ears of small-cap investors. Finally, we were starting to see the slow and optimistic return of the market, with operators starting to size themselves appropriately and seeing more realistic results in the process.

But as always, the story isn’t the same across the board. One of the biggest factors driving the resurgence was positive results from majors including Aurora Cannabis, but a steeper than expected loss from Canopy Growth puts a wrench into the equation. In fact, each operator has had its own reasons for rising or falling over the last three months, and their stories are far from over.

So which cannabis companies topped the Stockhouse Bullboards over the last three months, and how have their share prices performed? Below we give you a table of the top 20 most-viewed companies on the small-cap investor hub and a quick snapshot, so be sure to dive in and examine the bigger picture for each.
