Iteris Inc. (NASDAQ: ITI) launched new tech that could make intersections and crosswalks much safer.

Labelled the industry’s first 1080p high-definition (HD) video and four-dimensional (4D) radar sensor with integrated artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, the Vantage Apex identifies objects and can classify different vehicle types and vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists.

Iteris’ technology combines cloud computing, AI, advanced sensors, advisory services, and managed services to achieve safe, efficient and sustainable mobility. The company has been continuing its eastern US expansion with Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s contract for a traffic signal timing program.

This new contract has potential value of $1.5 million (USD) and expands the company’s market penetration in New Jersey. Timing improvements will be made for key corridors to improve safety and mobility throughout the four-county region in New Jersey. This deal accelerates the geographic expansion of Iteris’ specialized consulting services in that state, which is a critical East Coast sub-corridor that serves as a key link in the nation’s transportation system.
