Toyota Announces 2013 Community Concert Program
Toyota City, Japan, Apr 12, 2013 - (JCN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces details of its 2013* Toyota Community Concerts, a classical music concert program TMC holds annually throughout Japan in collaboration with its domestic sales companies as part of its social contribution activities.

The 2013 program will comprise 44 performances in 25 prefectures and will again feature three types of concerts—community concerts, visiting concerts and invitation concerts—to match the needs of target communities.

Community concerts (one performance)

These concerts allow broad participation by citizens from each region. Participating orchestras will be able to perform in large urban concert halls with professional conductors and soloists.

- Ogaki Civic Center, Gifu Prefecture (July 7)

The Kammerorchester Ogaki will welcome conductor Dante Mazzola, who has conducted internationally renowned singers such as Luciano Pavarotti at La Scala in Milan. Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Verdi, the orchestra, together with soloists and a choir with local ties, will perform an all-Verdi program, including highlights from his opera, Rigoletto.

- Visiting concerts (eight performances)

Musicians will travel to places where residents have few opportunities to hear live music, and perform at such locations as gymnasiums, hospitals and other public facilities.

Concerts include:

- Kurihara City Wakayanagi Sogo Bunka Center, Miyagi Prefecture (November 16)
Following last years performance in Kesennuma, the Ishinomaki-City Symphony Orchestra will give a family-oriented concert to give those who suffered in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful musical performance.

- Chiba Prefectural School for the Visually Impaired (January 16, 2014)
The Chiba Masters Orchestra will visit the Chiba Prefectural School for the Visually Impaired, with the concert program being prepared in Braille. Special content is planned for the day, such as a taiko drum collaboration with the schools students.

Invitation concerts (35 performances)

Seats are set aside for youth, the elderly, as well as for people with physical disabilities.

The Toyota Community Concerts program showcases amateur orchestras from across Japan and aims to contribute to the promotion of regional culture through music. The first Toyota Community Concert was held in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1981, and the program is now in its 32nd year. As of the end of March 2013, 1,415 concerts have been held in 173 municipalities in 45 prefectures across Japan, reaching an audience of 1.14 million people.

Information (in Japanese) regarding ticket reservation is available at http://www.toyota.co.jp/tcc/.

* Unless otherwise noted, the years mentioned are from April 1 to March 31.
