America Helps Papa John’s Donate $400,000 In Support of the Oklahoma Tornado Relief Efforts

Pizza lovers throughout the country joined forces to help Papa John’s support the residents, first responders and aid workers recover from recent tornadoes that devastated the Moore and El Reno, Okla. communities. Including food and other donations, the country helped raise part of approximately $400,000 in donations on May 26, when $1 for every order was donated to the Salvation Army Oklahoma recovery efforts.

“We are thrilled that America rallied to action with our offer,” said John Schnatter, Papa John’s founder, chairman and CEO. “The money we raised, in addition to donations of food, labor and other necessities by the Papa John’s family will go a long way in helping the community recover from this tragic event.”

Jason Opie, franchisee of 11 Papa John’s restaurants in Oklahoma, including one in Moore, immediately supported his devastated community by distributing hundreds of pizzas to aid workers and displaced residents. Papa John’s also deployed a mobile pizza kitchen to the area, which served nearly 10,000 pizzas to the people and aid workers of Moore.

“I’m extremely proud of how quickly the Papa John’s family, Salvation Army, and all of America came together to support Moore,” said Schnatter. “I’m hopeful that our efforts will help the residents recover from this horrible event, and will help the rebuilding efforts of this wonderful community.”
