Accenture Collaborates with Michelin to Launch Michelin’s New Mobility-Focused Business Based on Accenture Cloud Platform
Accenture (NYSE:ACN) is collaborating with Michelin Group to create a
new business – Michelin solutions1 supporting the MICHELIN®
solutions2 brand. The company is focused on delivering
mobility solutions to its customers through the use of the Accenture
Cloud Platform and a wide range of solutions offered on a
pay-per-use basis.
Michelin solutions is designing, developing and marketing a new
generation of mobility-enabled solutions targeted at business customers
who manage fleets of vans, trucks and earthmoving equipment. These
solutions will help manage areas such as fuel efficiency, tire
management and vehicle productivity solutions. In July 2013, the company
launched its first ground-breaking solution: EFFIFUEL™.
Using the Accenture
Cloud Platform for hosting and monitoring,
Accenture can rapidly provision the infrastructure to automate the
processes required to execute client contracts for MICHELIN®
solutions’ current and future offerings. These include contract
creation, collecting and processing the data relating to the usage of a
service, pricing, accounting and billing. The Accenture Cloud Platform
provides greater flexibility and scalability for future geographic
expansion.
With Accenture handling these processes, Michelin solutions can rapidly
design and launch agile new solutions. The platform is open to all of
Michelin solutions’ service providers, allowing them to easily access
the relevant segments of the business.
Accenture also provides the call center for Michelin solutions on an
outsourced basis, handling all calls related to technology usage, six
days a week in 14 languages.
A joint Accenture-Michelin solutions change management team is guiding
the Michelin solutions staff and their suppliers through the
transformation to make the transition to the new business as smooth and
quick as possible.
“Based on strong collaboration, Michelin solutions and Accenture are
using a value-based deal built on a pay-per-use model,” said Philippe
Miret, Michelin solutions’ CEO. “This model creates a shared interest in
long-term results, giving both organizations the opportunity to benefit
directly from success.”
“We have collaborated with one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers
to launch a ground-breaking strategic business that transforms the
company from selling products to selling solutions around mobility,”
explained Jean Cabanes, managing director for the automotive and
industrial equipment industries in France and Benelux, Accenture.
“Accenture used a combination of consulting and technology services to
collaborate, launch and monetize Michelin solutions’ offerings in a very
short time-to-market. Working side by side with Michelin solutions, we
are being paid based on the future performance of Michelin solutions –
which gives us a vested interest to create a successful project.”
Accenture and Michelin started work in May 2012 to create the technology
infrastructure and capabilities needed to launch MICHELIN®
solutions brand.
Michelin solutions is currently operational in Europe and will be
deployed in all major regions in the coming years.
