Redline CEO to Take Medical Leave of Absence

Rob Williams appointed Interim CEO during Eric Melka's absence

TORONTO, Aug. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - Redline Communications (www.rdlcom.com Group, Inc. TSX: RDL), a leading provider of broadband wireless solutions for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications announces that, effective today, Eric Melka, the Company's Chief Executive Officer, will take a short-term medical leave of absence to address a back injury that has not responded to treatment and is becoming more difficult to manage.

Rob Williams, President Middle East and Africa (MENA) for Redline, will assume the role of interim CEO, taking on these additional responsibilities in Eric's absence. Rob was the first executive team member hired in 2010 after Eric took over the Company.  In the last three years Rob has advanced steadily through the executive ranks, from SVP Engineering and Operations to Chief Operating Officer (COO) before being promoted to President MENA.  Before Redline Rob had over 20 years of experience as a high technology executive including COO and acting CEO of then publicly traded Certicom. Rob is familiar with every operational aspect of the business from finance to technology to sales.  He is intimately familiar with all of Redline's partners and customers including all international relationships.

Eric will remain available to both the Board of Directors and the executive management team for strategic input during his leave.  The Company expects him to resume his duties as Chief Executive Officer after approximately three months.

"Eric's day-to-day presence will be missed while he is on leave but we understand that he needs to focus on his health to accelerate his recovery and return to Redline,'' said Philippe de Gaspé Beaubien III, Redline's Chairman of the Board. "We wish him all the best and look forward to his return. The Board fully supports Rob Williams in his interim CEO role.  Rob has been a key driver of Redline's strategic growth plan, which he will continue to implement during Eric's absence."

Any questions about the contents of this release can be addressed during the Company's Q2 2013 Earnings Call scheduled for Thursday, August 15, 2013, 10 AM Eastern.
