Casella Earns Recognition as One of Cornell University's Top Suppliers

CWST

RUTLAND, Vt., Oct. 7, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Casella Waste Systems, Inc., a regional solid waste, recycling and resource solutions company, said today that the company has been formally recognized as one of Cornell University's top suppliers at the university's second annual Cornell Supplier Recognition Awards.

"We value our relationship with Cornell, and having the opportunity to help the university reach its sustainability goals," John W. Casella, chairman and CEO of Casella Waste Systems, Inc., said. "This award validates the collaboration between our team and Cornell's to create sustainable infrastructure while managing waste out of the system."

The company said it has spent the last twelve months on the Cornell campus evaluating the school's waste and recycling infrastructure and service levels, and redesigned the system to promote recycling – utilizing Casella's all-in-one-bin Zero-Sort® recycling service – and substantially reducing the university's overall waste management costs.

"Casella is more than a supplier to the university," Suzanne Willcox, Strategic Sourcing Manager at Cornell, said. "They are a valued partner in our work to build a greener and more efficient campus."

The Cornell Supplier Recognition Awards spotlights suppliers who have performed best throughout the year in product and service quality, pricing, order fulfillment, customer satisfaction and social responsibility. On-campus customers evaluate supplier performance through a customer satisfaction survey. Cornell is the first university to recognize suppliers in this way.

Casella received the highest possible scores in each category.

Casella has developed broad expertise in a number of waste, recycling and resource solutions to help colleges and universities (and other institutions) manage costs while building "greener" campuses. The company currently serves over 70 colleges and universities throughout the northeastern U.S.
