Groupon (NASDAQ: GRPN) (http://www.groupon.com)
today announced three key engineering hires reporting to Sri Viswanath,
Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations.
Brian McCallister joins Groupon as CTO of Platform. McCallister comes to
Groupon from Ning, where he was Principal Architect and Distinguished
Engineer. At Ning, he also worked in other key architecture roles while
managing technical direction and communication across the organization.
McCallister was active with the Apache Software Foundation, serving on
the Board of Directors and as PMC Chair for the DB and ActiveMQ projects.
Stephen Deasy joins as the VP of Infrastructure and Data Platform at
Groupon. Deasy joins from VMware, where he was Senior Director of R&D
for VMware's Mobile Platform and Clients team. In this role he was
responsible for all aspects of Engineering, QE and DevOps. Prior to
VMware, Deasy held several senior roles at EMC, including IT Director
and Senior Software Developer.
Pete Webb joins Groupon as VP Global Production Operations. Before
Groupon, Webb was at Flipboard Inc., where he was Head of Operations.
Prior to Flipboard, Webb was VP Technical Operations at Ning and
Director of Operations and IT, where he was responsible for all
operations teams including IT, Network Engineering, Architecture,
Database Administration, Systems Administration, and Systems Engineering.
