Monster Arts Announces Launch of First Group of Causal Games for Google Play Marketplace

APPZ

Public company plans to release 200 games and entertainment apps in time for Christmas gift card spending

San Clemente, CA - (Accesswire - October 29, 2013) - In anticipation of the upcoming surge of Christmas and holiday season gift card purchases and spending approaching, Monster Arts, Inc (OTCBB:APPZ) is pleased to announce the launch of its first bundle of 20 Casual, Quiz, Trivia, and Puzzle gaming technologies and brands for the Google Play mobile app store. Monster Arts will be positioning these games toward capitalizing on and capturing new revenue streams for the company, and plans to have 200 games live and available for purchase by Christmas Day.

It is widely known that gift cards have been the most requested item on US holiday wish lists for the past seven years; in particular, more gift cards have historically been purchased for Christmas than for any other occasion, followed by birthdays and Mother's Day. And the size of the gift card market continues to surge, reaching a whopping $110 billion in US sales during 2012, up from $91 billion a year earlier.

A key driver of this explosive growth and upward momentum is what is referred to as the "digital arena", as gift card issuers increasingly look for ways to enable consumers to send their gift cards via email, mobile devices and social media sites. See 12/29/12 article entitled, "Gift Cards: $110 billion sold in the US in 2012," at Consultants Mind.com, and see 10/28/11 article entitled, "Gift Card Survey 2011: E-gift Cards Take Center Stage," at CreditCards.com.

Additionally, it is notable that Iconosys, Inc., the app development company in which Monster Arts holds a 10% ownership stake, has traditionally seen an approximate 1000% increase in its mobile app revenues during the months December through March, as compared with April through November. As a result, and in order to take full advantage, of this seasonal influx of gift card and mobile app buying power, Monster Arts is furthering its reach, and aggressively moving, into the world of mobile, casual gaming, and as part of its pivot away from the Daily Deal Analytics space.

The Monster Arts’ popular Casual Games catalog will include titles and related brands such as Super Zombie Slasher(R), Quick Draw Pinball, Super Lumber Jack, iCentipede, Super Droid Sweeper, Shoot Out Shut Out, and Android Invaders, just to name a few. … The suite of soon-to-be launched games will also include pinball games, shooting game, catching games, and holiday themed games, etc, harkening back the thoughts of gaming enthusiasts to the theme of the ‘Old Time Arcade’.

To provide more perspective on the size of the mobile, casual gaming market, app stores run by Apple and Google now offer an eye-popping figure of more than 700,000 apps each, and with so many apps to choose from, consumers are estimated to be spending on average about two hours a day with these apps. And not surprisingly, global revenue from app stores is expected to rise an astounding 62% this year to $25 billion, according to the market research firm, Gartner Inc. See “Apps Rocket Toward $25 Billion in Sales” by Jessica E. Lessin and Spencer E. Ante, March 4, 2013, Wall Street Journal. As also observed by one commentator, the popularity of online casual games has "skyrocketed", with it being recently reported that one in four of the world’s population regularly accesses games on the Internet, and with estimates of 145 million casual gamers in the US alone! Similarly strong growth trends for casual gaming can be seen in Europe and Asia. See "Casual Gaming: Market for online casual games set to grow globally in the coming years." September 28, 2012 by Roland Berger Strategy Consultants.

In addition to providing Monster Arts with important penetration into the mobile app gaming market serviced on the Google Play mobile app store platform, over the longer term this portfolio of new Casual Games create a new pathway for Monster Arts’ generating significant revenues on the iTunes, Nook, Kindle, and Android online channels, among others, and also serves as a significant tool for the company’s enhancement of product and service offerings to its existing and future client bases.

Commented Monster Arts CEO and Chairman Wayne Irving, "There remains a huge, pent up and under-served demand right now for casual games and remakes of what many know as the ‘classic, old style arcade games’, both from the older generations who are nostalgic about the games they grew up with and loved playing when they were kids, and the younger generations longing to experience the arcade culture that they unfortunately missed out on." Irving went on to observe, "Smartphone users are often looking for a quick distraction, and we’ve found that mobile device accessible casual, trivia, quiz, and puzzle games, along with remakes of those classic arcade games lend themselves really well to being a fast and easy entertainment avenue and solution for these on-the-go consumers."

The same games and apps will soon also be available on Nook, Kindle, and iTunes app stores, pending respective approvals.
