MTS launches fibre-optic network in Stonewall

Stonewall gains access to MTS's award-winning MTS Ultimate TV, ultra-fast Internet services

STONEWALL, MB, Dec. 6, 2013 /CNW/ - MTS, Manitoba's leading telecommunications provider, today celebrated the launch of the MTS FiON® Network in Stonewall, Manitoba.  This fibre-optic technology provides customers with the most advanced services MTS currently offers, including MTS Ultimate TV® and ultra-fast high-speed Internet.

"MTS has launched the MTS FiON Network in Stonewall and the timing couldn't be better," said MTS President Kelvin Shepherd.  "We added 22 new HD channels to our MTS Ultimate TV line-up this week, which means subscribers can enjoy a total of 146 channels in high-definition."

MTS Ultimate TV features nearly 500 channels, a wide variety of informative and entertaining apps, and access to Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View events. Subscribers can pause and rewind live TV from any room in their house with the Whole Home PVR. The MTS FiON Network also powers MTS's newest and fastest high-speed Internet plans, which offer download speeds of up to 250 Mbps and are exclusively available in MTS FiON communities.

Stonewall Deputy Mayor Pat Corbin joined Mr. Shepherd at the Main Street MTS Connect/4L Communications store in Stonewall today to celebrate the launch of the new network.

This expansion to Stonewall is part of a multi-year program to deploy MTS's fibre-to-the-home network to over 20 communities in Manitoba. Since 2010, MTS has launched the MTS FiON Network in Selkirk, Steinbach, Dauphin, Thompson, The Pas, Neepawa, Carberry, Minnedosa, Killarney, Beausejour, Lorette, Stonewall and select areas of Winnipeg and Brandon.
