Medworxx
Solutions Inc. ("Medworxx") (TSX VENTURE: MWX)
a leader in patient flow solutions, announced today an agreement with
The Scarborough Hospital (TSH) to implement the Medworxx Patient Flow
Platform. The agreement will result in TSH utilizing the Medworxx Bed
Management module as part of the Medworxx Patient Flow Platform to
optimize patient flow for 547 patient beds and to simplify communication
among care and support teams for streamlined bed placement, housekeeping
and portering. The Central East Local Health Integration Network
(Central East LHIN) has provided one-time funding to TSH to address
patient flow and capacity constraints. The TSH Bed Management
implementation is the first-stage of the LHIN’s multi-stage patient flow
improvement strategy to support health service providers in Central East
Ontario.
In 2011, through an RFP process, the Central East LHIN selected Medworxx
to deliver clinical Patient Flow Management services to all Central East
hospitals. “The Central East LHIN supports service providers in
addressing operational efficiencies”, said James Meloche, Senior
Director, System Design and Implementation, Central East LHIN. “The
funding that the Central East LHIN has provided to The Scarborough
Hospital will positively impact broader health system performance”.
The Medworxx Patient Flow Platform is the solution of choice for over
27,500 beds across Canada and internationally. Hospitals that have
implemented the Medworxx Patient Flow Platform have reported significant
reductions in conservable bed days and improvements in patient flow. “We
are confident that Medworxx Bed Management will help us to achieve our
primary objective — to improve quality of care by reducing wait times
and delays to patient care” said Alfred Ng, Director, Innovation &
Performance Improvement Office, TSH.
TSH is committed to improving access to care by the inclusion of related
performance indicators in both the Corporate Balanced Scorecard, as well
as the 2013/2014 Quality Improvement Plan. These same priorities align
with the Central East LHIN’s directions with several contained within
TSH’s Hospital Services Accountability Agreement. “The Bed Management
module we selected provides real-time clinical status of patients, beds
and resources and can pro-actively assist in eliminating daily bed
management issues,” said Marla Fryers, Executive Vice President,
Clinical Programs, TSH.
“We are pleased with the growth and momentum in LHIN implementations of
our Patient Flow Platform — of the 14 LHIN’s in Ontario 10 have
implementations of the solution," said Dan Matlow, President and CEO,
Medworxx. “We believe our Bed Management module will significantly
improve patient flow at The Scarborough Hospital. As an existing
customer having licensed the Medworxx Compliance and Education platform,
we look forward to continuing our partnership with them.”
The Medworxx Patient Flow Platform consists of three modules: Medworxx
Bed Management, Medworxx Clinical Criteria and Medworxx Forms &
Assessments. Medworxx Bed Management provides real-time status of
patients, beds and resources to establish efficiencies in the allocation
and provisioning of beds. It includes several out-of-the-box views,
dashboards, alerts, notifications and reports to foster
multidisciplinary communication, promote awareness and provide
visibility to operational improvement opportunities and historical
trends.
