eBay
Enterprise, an eBay Inc. company, today announced the availability
of a combined Magento and eBay Enterprise solution specifically geared
towards enabling omnichannel success for mid-sized retailers. The
solution combines the highly flexible, open source front end
customization of Magento’s Enterprise Edition, pre-integrated with eBay
Enterprise’s modular omnichannel solution suite that includes a retail
optimized order management platform comprised of: distributed order
management, omnichannel inventory visibility, store-based fulfillment
and dropship management. The joint solution also includes modular
options from eBay Enterprise’s full suite of marketing and demand
generation, fulfillment and customer service capabilities.
The Magento and eBay Enterprise solution leverages existing gateways
within Magento Enterprise version 1.13 and provides access to
omnichannel enabling capabilities, providing emerging retailers with the
same capabilities leveraged by the IR Top 100. With the most flexible
front-end solution on the market provided by Magento, and eBay
Enterprise’s technology-driven expertise in supporting large scale
omnichannel commerce for retail titans, retailers and mid-sized
merchants alike can now leverage new technologies while maintaining low
total cost of ownership and an accelerated time to market.
“Retailers large and small understand the importance of swift technology
enablement as a strategy to win in an increasingly competitive
environment,” said Chris Saridakis, president of eBay Enterprise. “By
integrating Magento with the eBay Enterprise omnichannel solution suite,
new and existing Magento merchants can take advantage of our leadership
in large scale retail technologies.”
This industry leading, comprehensive solution fuels omnichannel growth
without sacrificing brand identity:
-
The joint solution is available to both new and existing Magento
Enterprise customers.
-
By leveraging Magento Enterprise, retailers can experience simplified
deployment by eliminating the need for Magento customers to
re-architect their existing implementations while activating new order
management solutions provided by eBay Enterprise.
-
The joint solution will be supported by a robust partner program
leveraging Magento’s partner and developer network that is
specifically aligned to the unique needs of mid-sized retailers.
“As our customers scale beyond $100 million dollars in revenue,
flexibility and extensibility of ecommerce technologies become
mission-critical to survival and success,” said Roy Rubin, chief
operating officer of Magento. “We are excited to announce that new and
existing Magento Enterprise Edition customers now have an unprecedented
competitive edge in the marketplace with eBay Enterprise’s comprehensive
omnichannel and marketing solution suite.”
Alliance Partner Network
eBay Enterprise also revealed intent to create an Alliance Partner
network to support greater retailer adoption of Magento and eBay
Enterprise implementations. This network will expand upon Magento's
current vibrant global network of solution partners and developers,
providing a unique opportunity for System Integrators to design and
implement omnichannel solutions that support the unique needs of
mid-market retailers. eBay Enterprise alliance partners will work
directly with retailers to bring their omnichannel vision to life,
leveraging the solutions data integration framework for rapid
implementation and integration, and deliver seamless experiences today’s
connect consumers demand.
“In addition to retailer benefits of increased flexibility and support
stemming from integration between Magento and eBay Enterprise, our
partners will be able to further differentiate their market strategies
by providing unparalleled customization of the Magento storefront
combined with the robust eBay Enterprise technology suite,” said Darren
Burris, head of worldwide channel sales and alliances at Magento. “We
recognize no two retailers are alike and look to empower our partners
and developers with the advantages of the new integration with eBay
Enterprise to drive commerce innovation and growth for Magento
merchants.”
According to Peter Sheldon, a principal analyst serving eBusiness and
Channel Strategy professionals at Forrester Research, Inc., “The
collaboration between Magento and eBay Enterprise will specifically
address the ability of retailers to manage operations and serve
customers across retail channels.”* Sheldon stated, “The main benefit
will be the ability to simplify technology provider relationships by
sourcing both technology and services from a single end-to-end provider
that is 100% focused on omnichannel commerce. This will appeal to firms
that today struggle to manage a complex set of different technology
vendors, consultants, agencies, systems integrators and service
providers.”*
According to Sheldon, “The real savings will come from reduced
implementation costs as clients are able to leverage pre-built
integrations between all the components from eBay Enterprise.”*
