Appoints Sharon Wacker to Managing Director, North America; Promotes Kate MacNevin to Executive Director of Global Operations

DETROIT, Jan. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Commonwealth//McCann, the agency dedicated to the global Chevrolet account, today announced the appointment of Sharon Wacker to Managing Director, North America, and promoted Kate MacNevin to Executive Director of Global Operations.

Wacker, previously Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Team Detroit, which handles the U.S. Ford business, will be responsible for management of Commonwealth's consolidated business in North America. MacNevin's new role includes continued oversight of the Chevy business in North America as well as building and elevating the Chevy brand both regionally and globally.

Bill Kolb, Chairman and CEO of Commonwealth//McCann, said, "We are excited to welcome Sharon. Her deep understanding of the North American auto marketplace makes her ideally suited to the task of building on our success with Chevrolet in North America." Kolb continued, "Kate has an exceptionally effective record of helping to build and expand Chevy's businesses and is a great judge of not only what builds a strong brand, but also what drives traffic into dealerships. In her expanded new global role she will be key to helping further develop the Chevrolet brand across the globe."

Kate MacNevin, previously Commonwealth//McCann's Managing Director of North America, brings more than 20 years of marketing communications experience to this leadership role, including about 15 years on General Motors. She began her career in 1992 in her native Canada, working on Procter & Gamble at Grey Canada, and then moved to Cossette, Toronto, for 12 years where she first worked on General Motors of Canada. She joined MacLaren McCann, Toronto, in 2006, and was named to head the GM Canada business in 2009. When Commonwealth//McCann was formed in 2012, she joined as director of global operations, adding her North American responsibilities the following year.

Sharon McGann Wacker joins Commonwealth//McCann from WPP's Team Detroit, where she has been Managing Director of the U.S. Ford account since August 2009.  She began her career in politics and government, including having worked on President George H. W. Bush's successful campaign and 1989 inauguration team, as Deputy Director of Scheduling in the U.S. Treasury Department, and in setting up the cable company Telecommunications, Inc.'s government affairs office. A native Detroiter, she joined WPP's J. Walter Thompson Detroit in 1998 to work as a strategic planner on the Ford Truck business and rose to assume responsibility for the truck account management team in 2005.

Commonwealth//McCann is McCann Worldgroup's award-winning advertising and marketing communications agency dedicated to the global Chevrolet brand. Formed in 2012, Commonwealth//McCann is based in Detroit, with offices around the world in Bangkok, Buenos Aires, Dubai, Mexico City, Milan, Moscow, Sao Paulo, and Seoul.
