Intuit Creates TurboTax for Health Care

INTU

For more than 20 years, TurboTax® has helped millions of Americans understand their taxes. It’s now bringing that same expertise to health care.

The nation’s No. 1-rated, best selling online tax preparation service from Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU), has launched TurboTax Health to help uninsured Americans understand how the Affordable Care Act applies to their individual situation.

TurboTax Health, a new, free online tool available at www.TurboTaxHealth.com, guides users through an interview-like experience, similar to the popular TurboTax software. The site provides a holistic view of what the ACA means to an individual’s health care and finances.

Making health care choices is a big decision and it can be difficult for people to know if they are doing the right thing. In three easy steps, TurboTax Health provides people with a personalized Affordable Care Guide to help them understand their health care options, so they can easily and confidently make the right decision. By answering a few simple questions, people will quickly and easily:

  • Determine whether they are going to qualify for a tax subsidy, and the estimated amount, that will allow them to buy health insurance at a discount.
  • Understand how much health insurance would cost for their family.
  • Estimate their tax penalty, if they choose not to get health insurance.

For those looking to purchase health insurance, TurboTax Health will seamlessly connect them to their state or federal health insurance marketplace or to eHealth, the nation’s leading private health insurance site.

“At TurboTax, we take the complex and make it simple. Every year, we help make sense of the latest tax laws and legislation for millions of hard-working Americans,” said Sasan Goodarzi, senior vice president and general manager of Intuit’s Consumer Tax Group. “Now we’re doing the same for health care. Consumers want a simplified way to make their own health care decisions and TurboTax Health is our answer.”

TurboTax Health also gives users personalized answers to their individual health care questions, through a first-of-its-kind social community that combines the expertise of tax professionals and the personal experience of peers. The AnswerXchange community, combined with step-by-step guidance, empowers people to confidently self-serve their health care needs.
