Tribeca Film and Amazon Bring Oscar Nominee for Best Foreign Language Film-The Broken Circle Breakdown-to Prime Instant Video for Exclusive Subscription Debut

AMZN

(NASDAQ:AMZN)—Amazon.com, Inc. today announced a content licensing agreement with Tribeca Film that will make Prime Instant Video the exclusive online-only subscription home for streaming of Academy Award-nominated foreign language film The Broken Circle Breakdown, as well as several other acclaimed documentary and feature films. The Broken Circle Breakdown, directed by Felix van Groeningen from Belgium, was theatrically released in the fall and is one of five nominees for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s 86th Academy Awards.

The licensing deal brings a long list of other Tribeca Film releases to Prime Instant Video, the majority of which are available now for instant streaming to Prime members. In addition to The Broken Circle Breakdown, they include How to Make Money Selling Drugs, a top 2013 documentary about the war on drugs, featuring Susan Sarandon, Arianna Huffington and Russell Simmons, Greetings from Tim Buckley, Sparrows Dance, and the animated children’s film Moon Man.

“The Academy has honored The Broken Circle Breakdown with a nomination in the Best Foreign Language Film category and we are excited to bring this engaging film to Prime members,” said Brad Beale, Director of Digital Video Content Acquisition for Amazon. “We know the independent film category is a favorite among Amazon customers and this agreement with Tribeca Film will add even more high-quality films to Prime Instant Video.”

“Tribeca Film is pleased to deliver a large selection of diverse and quality independent films to Amazon Prime Instant Video customers. The Prime Instant Video platform is an ideal way for our films to be discovered by a highly targeted audience who we feel is looking for this type of content,” said Todd Green, GM of Tribeca Film.
