SPRINGFIELD, IL--(Marketwired - April 14, 2014) - The Horace Mann Companies will flash fund $25,000 in DonorsChoose.org projects at Horace Mann schools throughout the day on National Teacher Day, May 6. Educators need to have their project posted to DonorsChoose.org before May 5 to be eligible for the random selection of projects to fund.

Horace Mann, an insurance company Founded by Educators for Educators®, is doing the flash funding as part of a larger movement to #TeachItForward during Teacher Appreciation Week. In addition to flash funding $25,000 in DonorsChoose.org projects, each day during Teacher Appreciation Week they will randomly select an educator who has entered their Teach It Forward giveaway to receive a gift valued at $500 -- and that educator will select another educator to surprise with a gift valued at $500, as well. DonorsChoose.org is a website connecting teachers to donors. Since starting a partnership with the website in 2011, Horace Mann has donated more than $2 million to DonorsChoose.org, helping fund the projects of thousands of teachers. On National Teacher Day, any project from a Horace Mann school posted as of May 5 will be eligible for flash funding, and DonorsChoose.org will randomly choose projects to fund. Only one project per teacher will be funded, up to $1,000.
