MoSys
(NASDAQ: MOSY), a leader in semiconductor solutions that enable fast,
intelligent data access for network and communications systems, today
announced the production release of its second generation Bandwidth
Engine® family of ICs. MoSys' Bandwidth Engine products provide a
computational and memory solution with serial interfaces for high-speed
networking equipment. Bandwidth Engine ICs address the simultaneous
increase in both data throughput and intelligence for next-generation
systems to accelerate existing and SDN-based networking infrastructure,
communications and security applications.
Traditional memory architectures do not deliver the density, speed or
flexibility required to meet the scalable requirements of sustained
packet rates growing to over 600 million packets per second with dozens
of data accesses per packet. The flexible Bandwidth Engine IC family
delivers density, performance, power and economic advantages, offering
the highest bandwidth capability of any single-chip networking memory
device. Bandwidth Engine products are engineered and built for
high-reliability, extended lifetime carrier-class and enterprise
applications.
"Increased network traffic and high-availability services are driving
the aggregate networking data rates in excess of terabits per second,
while requiring even more processing, monitoring and management of each
packet,” stated John
Monson, vice president of marketing and sales for MoSys. "The
Bandwidth Engine 2 family of products leverages a highly efficient
serial interface and a unique offload and memory architecture to address
critical memory bandwidth and access rate bottlenecks that limit
performance and feature flexibility in networking and communications
equipment."
This second generation Bandwidth Engine family contains three
purpose-built variants. The MoSys® MSR620 “Burst” device offers the
highest data throughput for high-speed 100G to 400G packet buffer
applications. The MSR720 “Access” device has lower power, over four
times the size and twice the transaction rate when compared to the
latest version of a traditional QDR SRAM. The MSR720 IC maintains full
data coherency, high command efficiency and simplified scheduling,
resulting in a performance of up to 4.5 billion memory accesses per
second, well-suited to the requirements of state and queuing
applications, where repeat access of the same address is needed. The
MSR820 “Macro” device, in conjunction with the highest bandwidth density
and access rate, also delivers offload acceleration of management,
statistics and accounting capabilities used in carrier networks. Like
its first generation predecessor, the Bandwidth Engine 2 family is
designed to meet high reliability, carrier-grade network equipment
requirements. In addition to this base reliability, the second
generation includes provisions for optional use of MoSys' Bit Safe™ Self
Test and Self Repair Technology designed to enable extensive in-field
test and repair capabilities to further enhance reliability and
flexibility. MoSys is now accepting production orders for the MSR720,
MSR620 and MSR820 devices. For information about pricing and
