CALGARY, AB , Canada, via eTeligis Inc., 07/24/2014 - - Petrosonic Energy, Inc. (OTCQB: PSON), an emerging leader in heavy oil upgrading and related technologies, would like to announce it has developed a new solution to its sonic de-asphalting process. This solution will enable the process to use propane/LPGs to de-asphalt heavy oils. It is important to note, LPGs/propane are more common and cheaper solvents. The new solution is called Sono Hi-P TM and was developed in collaboration with, Gas Liquids Engineering of Calgary, which carried out the full engineering and validation of the SonoprocessTM. In addition, Petrosonic has filed a patent for the new solution.
This is a very important development for the company stated Mr. Art Agolli, CEO of Petrosonic, as Sono Hi-PTM would enable a much wider use of the technology, thus, de-risk the technology further and most importantly improve the economics of our process significantly; this is primarily due to the fact that LPGs, such as propane, are much cheaper and far more available on a global scale than other solvents the company intended to use initially.
Kevin Bonde, The project manager of Gas Liquids Engineering stated, This innovative solution is a major modification of the sonicators chamber. The new chamber solution would allow the sonication to be carried out by pressure rather than atmospheric conditions, such as solvents formerly utilized by Petrosonic in the past. The new chamber design would allow the use of propane, under pressure conditions, subsequently achieving Petrosonics goal to use more economically-efficient and common solvents, while simultaneously increasing the processing capacity per sonicator than that of their previous model.
The company plans to carry out tests for the Sono Hi-P TM with a prestigious, independent third-party organization to validate the new solution.
