Veterans on Wall Street (VOWS), a consortium of major financial
institutions including Citi, Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs, held their
fourth annual Veteran Employment Symposium and Resource Fair on November
5th in New York City. The event attracted more than 700
transitioning service members and their families, military and
government leaders, veterans support organizations and others who have a
shared interest in veterans’ employment issues.
The annual conference aims to raise awareness of the value of veterans
in the civilian workforce, offers workshops to transitioning service
members and their families, and is an opportunity to share best
practices regarding veteran recruitment and retention among institutions.
“The fourth annual Veterans on Wall Street Symposium and Resource Fair
served as an another opportunity to show thanks to our brave men and
women in uniform,” said Suni Harford, Citi’s Regional Head of Markets
for North America. “Since its inception, VOWS has raised millions of
dollars to assist military members as they transition back into civilian
life. Although we can never fully honor their tremendous courage and
sacrifice, we remain committed to supporting veterans, service members
and their families.”
Jacques E. Brand, CEO of Deutsche Bank North America, added, “We’re
proud to be a founding sponsor of VOWS and a longstanding supporter of
this incredible event. The conference continues to provide a unique
networking opportunity for veterans and showcases the invaluable skills
our service men and women bring to corporate America.”
“We are thankful for the support and participation from our partners
across both the public and private sectors in making the 2014 VOWS
Symposium and Resource Fair a success,” said Gary Giglio, region head of
U.S. Private Wealth Management, Goldman Sachs. “With more than 700
veteran attendees and corporate participants this year’s event, we are
pleased to see continued progress toward our efforts to raise awareness
across the private sector, innovate the way we develop and tap into the
skills and experience of the veteran talent pool, and commitment to
recognizing and supporting our country’s service members and their
families.”
