TORONTO, Nov. 17, 2014 /CNW/ - Kicking off the holiday season yesterday, THE 110TH ANNUAL SANTA CLAUS PARADE broadcast became the most-watched in over 10 years, with a record preliminary overnight audience of 1.1 million viewers tuning in to catch Santa and this year's 31 floats make their way through the streets of Toronto. In all, 3.8 million Canadians watched some part of the festive broadcast which peaked at 1.7 million viewers in the final minute as the parade came to a close with Santa's appearance. Hosted by CTV Toronto's Ken Shaw, THE SOCIAL's Melissa Grelo, and TSN's Gurdeep Ahluwalia, the world's longest-running children's parade can be seen on demand on CTV.ca/SantaClausParade and CTV GO until December 26.

Ranking as the #1 non-prime entertainment program of the day with total viewers and in all key demos, THE 110TH SANTA CLAUS PARADE was up 3% from last year. The big event also grew 8% with both A18-49 and A25-54, and 4% with A18-34.  In Toronto, the PARADE was #1 program of the day Sunday with total viewers, and the #1 non-prime program with the key A18-34, A18-49, and A25-54 demos. The PARADE also trended on Twitter in Canada yesterday, generating an estimated 22.5 million impressions*.
