Delta Air Lines Statement 2 On Flight 1086

ATLANTA, March 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Delta Air Lines Flight 1086, a MD-88 en route from Atlanta to New York-LGA, exited Runway 13 during landing. The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. local time Thursday.

There were 127 passengers and five crew members on board.  Passengers deplaned and moved to the terminal on buses. Preliminary reports indicate some minor injuries.  

Gail Grimmett, Senior Vice President – New York, provided remarks during a news conference this afternoon at LGA with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Below are her remarks as prepared:

-       Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) flight 1086 from Atlanta to New York-LaGuardia exited Runway 13 Thursday morning during landing.

-       The flight was being operated using an MD-88 aircraft and our preliminary count indicates there were 132 including five crew members on board.

-       Customers deplaned and were moved to the terminal on buses. 

-       We want to thank the New York and New Jersey Port Authority first responders who stepped up to help our customers and crew.

-       There was a fuel leak from one of the wings, but we cannot confirm any further details about that at this time.

-       Our priority is ensuring our customers and crew members are safe and we are working with all authorities to determine what happened here today.

-       Delta is working to gather additional information and we will provide details as soon as they become available and we can confirm.
