Moms and moms-to-be took steps to improve their health and the health of
their babies by participating in baby showers organized and hosted by
UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Ohio. The baby showers in Cleveland
and Cincinnati are part of a series of eight community events that will
take place throughout the state to provide expectant moms and new
parents with important prenatal and well-baby care resources and
information.

At the event moms met with health experts and representatives from the Greater Cleveland MomsFirst program and the Cleveland Department of Public Health and were able to get answers to many of their questions about their pregnancy and child-care safety. Moms also received information about UnitedHealthcare’s Healthy First Steps case management program and BabyBlocks®, a free online wellness-incentive program. (Photo Credit: Emmett King).
In Cleveland, expectant moms and new parents were able to meet with
health experts and representatives from the Greater Cleveland MomsFirst
program to get answers to many of their questions about their pregnancy
and receive tips for taking care of their babies, including information
on prenatal and postpartum care and child-care safety.
In Cincinnati, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Ohio in partnership
with Helping Young Mothers Mentor of Cincinnati hosted a health fair and
baby shower where representatives from the Women, Infants and Children
(WIC) program, Early Head Start, Hamilton County Help Me Grow and
Healthy Beginnings shared important prenatal and well-baby care
resources with attendees.
At both community baby showers attendees learned about available
well-baby resources, including a demonstration of BabyBlocks®, a free
online wellness-incentive program that enables participants to receive
email appointment alerts, wellness-related text messages, connect
directly with maternity nurses and earn rewards for keeping doctor
appointments.
Participating moms and moms-to-be at the health fair and baby shower
received a free gift bag that included diapers, baby wipes, a sleep sack
and other well-baby items. Door prizes were given away and included a
car seat, pack-and-play and baby gate, among other items.
