Colonial Life promotes empowering employees at small businesses

UNM

New program encourages “entreployee” culture as path to success

When you take better care of your employees, they take better care of your business.

That’s the idea behind Colonial Life’s latest effort to support America’s small businesses. Colonial Life is teaming up with Entrepreneur Magazine on a new program that helps small businesses develop a culture of employee ownership. Called “entreployees,” these empowered workers are encouraged to think like entrepreneurs: take responsibility, innovate and voice their opinions. The payoff is a team that both performs better and is more satisfied.

The program runs July through November and includes a series of articles on how small business owners can develop entreployees. The articles will be promoted on Entrepreneur’s website and hosted on Colonial Life’s small business website. The website also offers new content on how businesses can identify, develop and get the most out of their entreployees.

“Our goal is to help more entrepreneurs and small businesses grow,” said Gil Youmans, Colonial Life’s director of Small Market Solutions. “This new program gives us another opportunity to demonstrate our understanding of and support for small businesses. We want to partner with employers to help them take care of America’s workers.”

Big payoff

At least one small business owner who embraces the entreployee effort will win big in another way, too: The program also encourages owners to share their stories of how they’ve developed entreployees in their business. A story will be selected and profiled on Entrepreneur’s website in December and in a full-page article in next January’s print issue of the magazine — national exposure worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Small business owners can submit their stories with a few clicks on Entrepreneur’s website or on Colonial Life’s website. A feature story will be selected in October.

Entrepreneur reaches 2.7 million readers in print and 9 million on its website each month. Nearly half of the audience is small business owners.
