MIAMI, FL / ACCESSWIRE / August 17, 2015 / Lans Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB: LAHO) is pleased to announce the Company has signed a Distribution Agreement with SureGate LLC on August 14, 2015 to enable their resellers to provide merchants EMV retail processing solutions ahead of the upcoming October migration date. The Lans Holdings EMV Launch pad provides a white label solution for our partners to fast track the EMV migration.
Secure EMV payments are coming to the United States! The EMV migration date in the US Market is October 1, 2015 where new rules will apply to who is responsible for financial losses in the event of a fraudulent transaction. Merchants (businesses that accept credit cards) will then be liable if a counterfeit transaction occurs when a card holder uses a chip card (EMV) to pay a merchant and the merchant is not using true, EMV Ready Point-of-Sale technology.
"We are excited to engage with SureGate by opening new doors into vertical segments for transportation and cloud delivered point of sale solutions" added Trevor Allen, CEO of Lans Holdings Inc. "we believe that SureGate, as a new distribution channel, will assist us to introduce our payment solution to the market and obtain subscribers."
Payment card brands (Visa/Master Card) have announced their roadmaps to accelerate adoption through merchant incentives, processing infrastructure migration and fraud liability shift. The migration to EMV will:
- Reduce counterfeit card fraud
- Greatly reduces the merchants liability if fraud occurs
- Enable cardholders to use secure EMV payment cards globally
- Prepare for NFC mobile contactless payments (for example Apple Pay and Google Wallet)
Through the distribution agreement and EMV Launch Pad with Lans Holdings Inc., SureGate's versatile payment gateway will enable their customers to use EMV compatible devices that process all payment types like credit and debit cards, as well the popular Apple Pay.
SureGate will be deploying solutions in September to merchants giving them ample time to prepare for the liability shift; and leading the industry in EMV readiness by leveraging the Lans Holding's EMV Launchpad.
About U.S. EMV Chip Migration
Commonly used globally in place of magnetic stripe, EMV chip technology helps to reduce card fraud in a face-to-face card-present environment; provides global interoperability; and enables safer transactions across contact and contactless channels. Chip implementation was initiated in the U.S. market in 2011 and 2012 when American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa announced their roadmaps for supporting a chip-based payments infrastructure. Acquirer processor readiness mandates to support EMV were established for 2013, with liability shifts for managing fraud risk in a face-to-face environment set for 2015.
