Denver Housing Purchases Pioneering's SmartBurner to Deliver Fire Prevention & Energy Efficiency for its Housing Portfolio

V.PTE

  • Denver Housing installs 1,448 SmartBurners in its mid-rise and high-rise buildings
  • Pioneering Exhibiting at National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials Conference (representing 2.7 million housing units) in Los Angeles October 15-17th

Los Angeles, California--(Newsfile Corp. - October 14, 2015) - Pioneering Technology Corp. of Mississauga, Ontario (TSXV: PTE), ("Pioneering") announced today at the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Conference in Los Angeles the purchase and installation of 1,448 SmartBurners by the Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver ("Denver Housing" or "DHA") for its mid-rise and high-rise housing portfolio.

The installation of Pioneering's SmartBurner enables DHA to provide its residents with protection from stovetop cooking fires (the # 1 cause of home and apartment fires in the United States), while also enjoying a reduction in energy consumption. The savings generated from the installation of the SmartBurners is expected to offset the cost of the installation of the product and deliver a positive return on investment for DHA.

"The SmartBurner is a natural facility improvement measure, delivering both fire prevention and energy efficiency," said Jim DiPaolo, Deputy CFO for DHA. Kevin Callahan, CEO of Pioneering said "We are pleased to work with Denver Housing on this project and providing a safe and sustainable product for its residents".

In 2013, DHA ran a pilot project installing Pioneering's Safe-T-element product with its patented temperature limiting control technology in all of the apartment units in one of its mid-rise buildings to test the usability and fire prevention capabilities of the technology. The successful results of this pilot project have resulted in Denver Housing rolling the technology out across its portfolio by including Pioneering's SmartBurner in its most recent sustainability/revitalization project.

Pioneering's innovative cooking fire prevention product technologies have enjoyed tremendous success in preventing the number one cause of household fire, while saving energy, with hundreds of public and affordable housing authorities across North America. Denver Housing is just the latest in a series of public/affordable housing providers who are now also making the SmartBurner an important part of their overall safe and sustainable housing strategy.

Pioneering will be exhibiting at the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center October 15-17th. NAHRO is a professional membership organization comprised of approximately 20,000 housing and community development agencies and officials throughout the United States who administer a variety of affordable housing and community development programs at the local level. NAHRO members own or administer approximately 2.7 million public/affordable housing units in the United States.
